At the September 8th Board of Education meeting, Hilary Koehn from the Kansas Parents as Teachers Association and Lisa Williams from the Kansas Office of Early Childhood presented Melissa Lewis with the 2026 Parent Educator of the Year award!
Koehn said, "For more than 11 years, Melissa has been the heart of the USD 204 Parents As Teachers program as the Parent Educator. As the sole parent educator serving in this community, she has carried an incredible responsibility with consistency, compassion, and a genuine commitment to families, and it shows!
Over those years, Melissa has touched the lives of hundreds of families building relationships, one home visit at a time, and has helped parents feel confident as their first and most important teacher."
